The sun sets on yet another racing season. Though not without its excitement, 2021 has been yet another fabulous year at the Medicine Hat Speedway. The door to door action provided by drivers and the huge efforts provided by staff and volunteers, and the attendance of our supportive fans – without all of you this season could not have been such a huge success.
The 2021 season saw 8 race days (after COVID took the first two) and one demo derby. Four of the race days were part of a 2 day weekend, meaning that there was a total of 7 weekends that the Speedway had activity this summer. An average race day starts at 8 am for volunteers and staff joins in an hour or so before the action starts. Generally, the racing for drivers starts as late as the night before, and as early as the full week prior, putting the car together and getting it ready to go crazy fast.
In addition to all of the time spent on race day, there is the trophy ordering, the facebook posts, the SWAG ordering, the stocking of the concessions, the ticket sales, the preregistration, the sponsorship hunt, the scheduling, meetings, answering the phone and much much more that needs to be done to ensure the race season goes off without a hitch.
Sponsors – another part of the heart of the Speedway. The never ending support of our fantastic sponsors is essential to operations and continuing to operate. All of this time and money is spent in love for the Speedway. To each and every one of you THANK – YOU!!
The drivers and their pit crews, the volunteers and staff, the sponsors, the fans. Each and every one of you is an integral cog in the wheel that we know as the Speedway. Cheers to a very successful 2021 season!
